Daw Theingi Ye Tun, the Minister’s Office Director for the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, received the EuroCham Garment Advocacy Group on the 14th of February in Nay Pyi Taw. The EuroCham delegation was represented by its Deputy Director Mr. Marc de la Fouchardiere, Garment Advocacy Group Co-Chair Mr. Tobias Fischer, Garment Advocacy Member Mrs. Icy Liu, Garment Advocacy Officer Mr. Pietro Mantilla, and Government Affairs Manager Ms. Khin Soe Htaik.
Daw Theingi Ye Tun was also part of the Myanmar delegation that went to Europe in December 2018 to discuss the GSP/EBA with the EU. The GSP was the centrepiece of discussion and EuroCham stressed the importance of having a concrete action plan to maintain its status in the country. Furthermore, EuroCham also addressed current issues related to the tripartite forum between the Ministry of Labour, Trade Unions and Employers. EuroCham emphasised that ensuring a fair discussion between the three parties is crucial for the fate of the GSP though will not be the sole determining factor.
