Digital Economy Development Committee (DEDC) visits EuroCham Myanmar
On the 4th of April 2018, Dr. Tun Thura Thet and U Mya Moe Aung, members of Myanmar’s Digital Economy Development Committee (DEDC) visited EuroCham Myanmar and met with EuroCham’s Digital Innovation Advocacy Group to discuss the current activities of the DEDC to enable a digital transformation in Myanmar and discuss potential opportunities of cooperation in the sector.
Digital Economy Development Committee was established in July 2017 and is one of the committees chaired by the Vice President of Myanmar. It has so far identified six areas of focus which include connectivity, skills and capacity building, e-government transformation, digital transformation and trade promotion, cyber security and data innovation. DEDC has also formulated specific goals under these focus areas, and in future they will cooperate with relevant working committees, line ministries and private communities to further promote the economic growth through digitization of trade and commerce.
The Digital Innovation Advocacy Group is chaired by Mr. Erwin Sikma, Mr. Kieran J. Rabbitt and Mr. Christo Thekkel. The advocacy group represents ten leading companies in the field of digital innovation in Myanmar.
