Job Description

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, the official Austrian foreign trade promotion and internationalization agency, will establish a new Austrian Commercial Office in Myanmar with the location in Yangon. Therefore, we are looking for a flexible, outgoing and well-organized contributor in order to start our new operation in Myanmar. The candidate needs to be fluent in English and Burmese and should ideally have previous experience in trade and investment promotion or in import/export, marketing or market research. Some knowledge of and interest in Austria would be a definite advantage. Your future tasks: Your main mission will be to support the Austrian economy in Myanmar. 

This will include the following tasks: 

  • Communication with Austrian companies and ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Bangkok (in English)
  • Research of possible partners for Austrian companies in Myanmar (e.g. local agents, distributors, importers, direct customers)
  •  Market research about business sectors in Myanmar
  • Publication of brief business sector reports 
  • Organization and conduct of trade promotion events in Myanmar (e.g. trade missions, trade fairs, B2B meetings) 
  • Organization of individual business trips from Austrian company representatives
  • Organizing official trips of the Austrian Commercial Counsellor & Attaché to Myanmar
  • Establishing and maintaining a network with local authorities, companies, organizations, and stakeholders
  • Interventions at local authorities, institutions, and companies
  • Regular customer database management
  • Translations between English and Burmese
  • Administration and accounting 
  • Internal office organization
  • Creating a social media presence for ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA in Myanmar

Your qualifications and skills: 

  • Knowledge of the Burmese business landscape 
  • Excellent command of the English and Burmese language (oral and written); knowledge of German language would definitely be an advantage
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office) and a willingness to learn new applications
  • Ability to work independently, time-efficiently and single-mindedly
  • Personal integrity, trustworthiness, and discretion
  • Strong communication skills 
  • High resilience in stressful situations
