On the road to recovery – Cambodia’s economic outlook for 2021 COVID-19 has had profound socioeconomic impacts worldwide. In Cambodia, current predictions for 2020 of a contraction of 4 % in the national gross domestic product (GDP) contrast with a prior forecast t of 7% growth before the pandemic. However, the Development Outlook update published in September by the Asian Development Bank expects the Cambodian economy to rebound with a 5.9% growth rate and a 1.8% inflation rate in 2021, placing it as the fifth fastest Southeast Asian economy. The enhancement of agricultural performance and increased volume of non-garment manufacturing exports are among explanatory factors.
